Cohen University was founded and exists under the direct supervision of the Southwest Presbytery of the Bible Presbyterian Church in America (BPCA):
to equip men and women for service in world missions. The Great Commission of Jesus Christ states: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
With mission fields closing to non-native workers, Cohen University believes aproperemphasisshouldbeplacedontrainingthosewhohave a burden to reach their own people.

Accordingly, it is a special purpose of the school to train Third Worldleaders,in order that they might go back and teach others also (II Timothy 2:2).

As the Lord prospers, further extensions of the ministry of this school will go forth in other Third World areas.
Another major purpose of Cohen University is the preparation of dedicated men and women for effective ministries in the exposition of the Holy Scripture.
This purpose is accomplished through quality instruction in the biblical literature including the original languages, the study of various systems of theological thought, exposure to past and present movements in Christian history and missions, the development of communicative and administrative skills, the cultivation of spiritual life, and encouragement in various kinds of Christian service.
